Baby Cafe continues to support mothers
FAIRMONT — Established in 2006, national Baby Cafes, a non-profit organization of breast-feeding and prenatal support groups, have provided excellent service and support to mothers around the country. Baby Cafe USA aims to improve and sustain the health of both parent and infant as they encourage breastfeeding with professional staffing and care, making sure no mother is stripped of access to lactation aid.
Lake Crystal woman selling T-shirts to support Hruska family
MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - A Lake Crystal woman is selling T-shirts to support the Hruska family. Marcy Morin, who owns Double-M Photo & Design, is joining the many people remembering the Rapidan Dam Store, as well as standing by the family who owned it. The shirts cost $25 each, and 100% of the proceeds will go the Hruska family.
POLICE, FBI LOOKING FOR ILLINOIS MAN WHO ALLEGEDLY SCAMMED NEW ULM WOMAN
New Ulm Police are investigating after they receive a report at 10:43 Tuesday morning from a New Ulm woman who said she was scammed out of $85,000 through an online investment account. The woman told investigators she was told to pay $85,000 in gold. The woman allegedly met a man in a grey Ford Edge in the Walmart parking lot and she turned over the gold to the man. Police are working with the FBI in trying to find the suspect, believed to be a 30-year-old man from Aurora, Illinois. The man was reportedly in the New Ulm area for several days prior to Tuesday.
COURTLAND MAN ARRESTED FOR ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF FIREARM
A Courtland man is in custody accused of illegally possessing a .22 caliber pistol, ammunition and methamphetamine. 55-year-old Dale Waibel has been charged with nine felony counts in relation to illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition with prior convictions and four felony counts for possession of meth. Waibel had been the subject of an investigation by the Brown-Lyon-Redwood-Renville Drug Task Force in May. New Ulm Police uncovered texts between Waible and a woman who was suspected of stealing a .22 caliber pistol from a New Ulm home. Waibel purchased the weapon and a search warrant by the drug task force revealed the handgun loaded with six rounds of ammunition and three boxes of .22 caliber rounds. Investigators found clear crystals on the kitchen which tested positive for meth. Court records say that Waibel has felony convictions on his record from 1993, 1996, 1999 and 2022.
Fairmont fireworks display moved to Friday, July 5
FAIRMONT, Minn. (KEYC) - Due to the forecasted weather on Thursday, July 4, the Fairmont fireworks display has been moved to Friday, July 5. The fireworks display will take place at around 10:15 p.m. over the west side of Sisseton Lake in Fairmont. At 6 p.m., a salute will be shot every hour as a countdown to the start of the show.
