Franklin County woman seriously injured in two-vehicle crash near Sullivan
Wet roads are being blamed for a crash about three miles from Sullivan that left a Franklin County woman with serious injuries. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Joya Maness, 27, of Union, was a passenger in a car traveling down I-44 around 1:00 Tuesday afternoon. Troopers say the driver, Christopher Carwile, 28, of Union, lost control of the car due to wet roadway conditions, ran off the side of the road, hit a tree, and overturned.

Crawford County man accused of fighting with deputy during arrest in Leasburg
A Crawford County man faces multiple charges for fighting with a deputy while being arrested in connection with a vehicle theft. The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy encountered Orzo Miller, 33, of Cuba, in the parking lot of Skippy’s Bar and Grill in Leasburg early Monday morning. Miller was wanted in connection with a vehicle theft, and the deputy told him he was under arrest.
Phelps County firefighters work pair of fires Tuesday
A couple of fires keep firefighters in Phelps County busy. The Doolittle Rural Fire Protection says crews worked a fire in a detached garage on County Road 8500, north of Newburg, Monday. They were assisted by the Rolla Rural Fire Protection District. Crews were also called to extinguish a debris pile fire in Newburg.

According to reports from the Dent County Sheriff’s Office:. • deputies took a report July 1 for a burglary in which firearms, camping equipment and other items were stolen. Obituary – Carol S. Brookshire
Carol Sue Brookshire, of Rolla, Mo., passed away Monday, July 8, 2024, at the age of 83. She was born on January 14, 1941, in Taylorville, Ill., to the late Harold Schroyer and Barbara (Check) Schroyer. Carol graduated from the Licking High School in 1959. On January 30, 1960, she married Fred Brookshire at the First Methodist Church in Licking, Mo.
