PATROL CRASH REPORT
According to online reports of Troop I of the Missouri State Highway Patrol:. • Injuries were reported Sunday, July 14, resulting from a two-vehicle crash that occurred on State Route K at State Route Z. A 2012 Nissan Versa, driven by Joan F. Sutton, 75, of Salem, was northbound at 12:44 p.m. July 14 when it pulled into the path of an eastbound 2014 Ram 1500, driven by Thomas W. Barnard, 40, of Rolla. Sutton received serious injuries in the crash and was flown by Phelps Air to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis for treatment. Both vehicles sustained total damage and were removed from the scene by Whitaker’s Towing.
Carol Sue Brookshire
Funeral service for Carol S. Brookshire was conducted July 12, 2024, at the First Assembly of God in Rolla. Interment followed in the Rolla City Cemetery. Mrs. Brookshire was born on January 14, 1941, in Taylorville, IL, to Harold Schroyer and Barbara (Check) Schroyer. She married Fred Brookshire on January 30, 1960, in Licking.

Dalton Snowden Memorial Rodeo to be held in August
Dalton Snowden was a man whose life defined the word “cowboy.” His memory will be honored at the Lone Pine Ranch & Arena, LLC., 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2 and 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3. The memorial rodeo will be sanctioned by the Mid Missouri Rodeo Association (MMRA). Admittance is $10, but children 10 and under will be free. Concessions will be available with vendors on site, and parking will be completely free.
SHERIFF INCIDENT REPORT
According to reports from the Dent County Sheriff's Department:. • deputies responded to the 18000 block of County Road 5600 July 7 for a domestic dispute. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that a 53-year-old Salem woman was assaulted by a 34-year-old Salem man. The investigation is ongoing.
FOOTBALL: Tiger Football Camp begins this week
The Salem High football squad cranks up its preparation for the upcoming season by starting the Salem High School Football Camp this week. Tiger Camp began Monday. The camp is slated for July 15-18, July 22-26 and July 29-Aug. 1 at the high school. There will be meetings starting at 5 p.m. before camp activity is held from 6-9 p.m.
William “Bill” Roy Parsons
Celebration of life for William “Bill” Roy Parsons will be at 11 a.m. July 22, 2024 at James & Gahr Mortuary Chapel, Salem. Mr. Parsons was born October 22, 1959 in St. Louis to Ernest and Isabelle (Owens) Parsons. He died June 13, 2024 in Columbia at the age of 64 years.
Rolla man seriously hurt after ATV crash in Phelps County
PHELPS COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ) An ATV crash in Phelps County Sunday evening sent a Rolla man to the hospital. Fort Leonard Wood is losing the band that has provided its soundtrack for 70 years
The final note is coming soon for the band that has been stationed at Fort Leonard Wood for 70 years. The 399th Army Band stationed at the post west of Rolla is one of four bands the Army has decided to deactivate as part of a restructuring plan. All members will be reassigned by the middle of October.
Two from Newburg are seriously injured when they're forced off Highway 63 by suspected drunk driver
Two from Phelps County are seriously injured when their pickup truck is rear-ended and forced off the road by a suspected drunk driver. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports Scott Jenkins, 38, of Newburg, was driving on Highway 63 about five miles south of Rolla on Saturday afternoon when he slowed down to make a right turn. The patrol says the driver behind Jenkins failed to yield and truck the back of his truck. The impact forced Jenkins’ truck off the road where it overturned.

Donald Gilchrist Stewart
Funeral service for Donald Gilchrist Stewart was conducted by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Arrangements were under the direction of Normans Mortuary, Wailuku, Hawaii. Mr. Stewart was born November 5, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan to John Stewart, of Leith, Scotland, and Hannah Sleigh, of Manchester, England. He died June 29, 2024 in Haiku, Maui, at the age of 69 years.
