Fort Leonard Wood is losing the band that has provided its soundtrack for 70 years
The final note is coming soon for the band that has been stationed at Fort Leonard Wood for 70 years. The 399th Army Band stationed at the post west of Rolla is one of four bands the Army has decided to deactivate as part of a restructuring plan. All members will be reassigned by the middle of October.

Celebration of life for Clinton Harold Medlock was July 12, 2024 at James & Gahr Mortuary Chapel, Salem. Mr. Medlock was born November 11, 1954 in Salem to Harold and Berndean (Hunter) Medlock. He was married to Barbara Ellen Barr for 39 years. Mr. Medlock died July 9, 2024 in Salem at the age of 69 years.
2024-25 CPAS schedule for Leach Theatre announced
Leach Theatre has announced the schedule for the 2024-25 Campus Performing Arts Series, according to a Tuesday release from Missouri S&T. Season tickets are now on sale, with several packages available. Four different ticket packages are available, ranging in price from $75 for the Family Season Pass (three family-friendly shows) to $225 for the Premium Full Season Pass (all eight shows). Discounts are available for youth under the age of 18, as well as Missouri S&T students, faculty and staff. Tickets for individual shows will be available beginning Aug. 16.
Rolla man seriously hurt after ATV crash in Phelps County
PHELPS COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ) An ATV crash in Phelps County Sunday evening sent a Rolla man to the hospital. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the crash happened on private property near County Road 3140 at 5:30 p.m. According to the online crash report, a 2005 Honda Rancher driven by Randy Romine, 69, overturned, ejected.
Scott Jenkins seriously injured in Phelps County 2-vehicle crash
PHELPS, MO, (July 13, 2024) - A Newburg man and boy suffered serious injuries on Saturday in a two-vehicle crash in Phelps County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported. According to a preliminary report, a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado, driven by 38-year-old Scott M. Jenkins, was traveling north on Highway 63. At around 1:14 p.m., the driver slowed to make a right turn onto County Road 5240 but was struck from behind by a 2010 Ford Edge. The impact caused the Chevrolet to leave the roadway and overturn.

Funeral service for Donald Gilchrist Stewart was conducted by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Arrangements were under the direction of Normans Mortuary, Wailuku, Hawaii. Mr. Stewart was born November 5, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan to John Stewart, of Leith, Scotland, and Hannah Sleigh, of Manchester, England. He died June 29, 2024 in Haiku, Maui, at the age of 69 years.
Two from Newburg are seriously injured when they're forced off Highway 63 by suspected drunk driver
Two from Phelps County are seriously injured when their pickup truck is rear-ended and forced off the road by a suspected drunk driver. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports Scott Jenkins, 38, of Newburg, was driving on Highway 63 about five miles south of Rolla on Saturday afternoon when he slowed down to make a right turn. The patrol says the driver behind Jenkins failed to yield and truck the back of his truck. The impact forced Jenkins’ truck off the road where it overturned.
Newburg man and teen seriously injured in Phelps County crash
A Newburg man and teen boy are seriously injured after a two-car crash on Highway 63 at Phelps County Road 5240 on Saturday. According to a crash report from MSHP, a SUV driven by a female, 47 from Licking, was following a pickup truck driven by the Newburg man, 38. As the pickup truck slowed to make a right turn, the SUV did not slow down and struck the back of the pickup truck.

St. James man arrested for domestic assault after eluding authorities for one day
A Phelps County man is arrested for a brutal assault while driving through Osage County. Court documents state the assault happened Tuesday afternoon when Andrew Zachery, 32, of St. James, allegedly beat the woman, then crashed her pickup truck on a county road just north of Westphalia. A witness told investigators that Zachery removed the victim from the vehicle, then fled the scene on foot.
