Performance brings back memories for veterans
In a show of appreciation for all veterans, the USO-style band Letters From Home performed a musical salute to them July 2 during the North Carolina Fourth of July Festival. Veterans sat in chairs laid out on the grass in front of the covered Southport Waterfront Park stage while enjoying music from the World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War periods and more, with the Cape Fear River serving as a magnificent backdrop. Two Wilmington-area towns are among the 10 richest areas in North Carolina, according to an analysis by Forbes. Using 2022 U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey five-year estimates, Forbes considered more than 690 cities in North Carolina to identify the 50 wealthiest in the state. The analysis was based on median household income, average household income, median home value and median property taxes paid.
