Former Social Worker In Colfax Sent To Prison In Sextortion Case
A former social worker in Colfax has been sent to prison for extorting a woman for sex in exchange for helping get her children back. 35 year old Robert Tarver was found guilty in April during his bench trial in Whitman County Superior Court. Judge George fearing convicted Tarver of felony receiving unlawful compensation with sexual motivation and perjury. He was found not guilty of felony extortion.

National Park Service Public Meeting to Review New Commercial Use Authorizations Policies
Virgin Islands National Park invites the local communities of St. John and St. Thomas to a public meeting to be held at the new Resources Management and Science conference room at 5:45 p.m., Wednesday, July 10. This meeting’s topic will be an overview of the new concession management policies that govern new online Commercial Use Authorizations (CUA) issued by National Park Service entities which began to roll out in many parks for the 2024 application process.

NOTICE is hereby given, pursuant to RCW 28A.505.050 and RCW 28A.505.060, that the Board of Directors (the “Board”) of Palouse School District No. 302, Whitman County, Washington (the “District”) will hold a public meeting on July 25, 2024 at 6:00 PM at the Palouse School Library located at 600 E Alder St, Palouse, WA 99161. The meeting is called for the purpose of fixing and adoption the budget of the District for the ensuring 2024-25 fiscal year. Prior to adoption of the 2024-25 budget, the Board will hold a hearing for the purpose of receiving comments from the public on the 2024-25 budget. Any person may appear at the hearing and be heard for or against any part of the 2024-25 budget, the four-year plan, or any proposed changes to uses of enrichment funding under RCW 28A.505.240 (a/k/a Replacement Educational Programs and Operations Levy). Upon conclusion of the hearing, the Board shall fix and determine the appropriation from each fund contained in the 2024-25 budget and shall, by resolution, adopt the 2024-25 budget, four-year budget plan summary, and the four-year enrollment projection. 2024-25 budget information has been available since July 10, 2024. Power outage attributed to equipment failure
TEKOA – Local areas lost power on Sunday, July 7, affecting over 800 Avista customers. According to Avista employee David Vowels, 882 Avista customers in the Tekoa and Oakesdale areas experienced a disruption of electric service at 7:30 p.m. “The cause of the outage was equipment failure,” said Vowels....
