Going undrafted may have been a good thing for Xavier Weaver.

The standout from the University of Colorado felt the buzz around campus during his senior year. Playing on a team that captivated the nation during 2023 will do that. However, when he went undrafted, it put a chip on his shoulder that he would use to prove himself during training camp.

"I just needed my foot in the door. I got the opportunity," he said, via the Cardinals' official website . "(Going undrafted) definitely put a little bit more fuel to the fire, but it's a blessing to be here."

Weaver hasn't always been perfect during college. He spent his first four years at the University of South Florida before committing to Colorado. He hauled in 68 receptions for 908 yards in 2023.

"It was a roller coaster in every way with the ups and downs, on and off the field," Weaver said. "But then again, it was fun, for real. The whole world was watching us for the whole season, but the first couple weeks, it was crazy."

Weaver – if he makes the team – joins a loaded wide receiver room in Marvin Harrison Jr., Michael Wilson, Greg Dortch, and Zay Jones.

He brings a chip the size of Texas to the locker room. Now he just has to live up to his talent.
