St. Louis Blues re-signs F Kasperi Kapanen to 1-year deal

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The St. Louis Blues announced Monday the club have re-signed forward Kasperi Kapanen to a one-year deal worth $1 million.

TSN insider Chris Johnston and The Athletic's Jeremy Rutherford first reported the Blues were going to re-sign Kapanen to a one-year deal worth $1 million.

Kapanen was claimed off waivers from the Pittsburgh Penguins in late February 2023, and while he did have good start to his Blues tenure, collecting 14 points in his first 23 games in a Blue Note sweatshirt.

However, he could not replicate that in his first-full season with the Blues, managing only 22 points in 73 games this past season

The decision to re-sign Kapanen will likely see Kapanen serve, at worst. as a depth piece for the Blues bottom-six forwards. The decision to re-sign Kapanen comes days after the Blues acquired forward Alexandre Texier from the Columbus Blue Jackets . Texier is expected to be winger with the Blues.
