ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - You used to call it Fair St. Louis, but this Fourth of July it will be called Celebrate St. Louis.

Among the major attractions that is coming back as part of Celebrate St. Louis is the Air Show.

Among the pilots who will be participating in the air show is Chuck Coleman, who will fly the Extra Flugzeugbau 300L series aircraft Thursday. Coleman has performed in hundreds of airshows and given over three-thousand rides in aerobatic aircraft.

"It's like the top end aerobatic plane." said Coleman on Total Information A.M. Thursday. "So arch grounds, you know, fireworks and everything, it's amazing place to fly aerobatics and there's gonna be a bunch of us. I believe it's about 2 p.m. on fourth of July. So come on down and see this crazy stuff on the Mississippi."

Coleman says that by being a stunt pilot, they have to follow some strict rules laid by the FAA.

"We have a very strict aerobatic box that's waivered by the FAA," said Coleman. "So basically, it's over the river in between the bridges and we're not allowed to fly outside of that, except if we're doing non-aerobatic maneuvers and you'll find the crowds very safe and everything. We take that into a high priority for our flying air shows."

In addition, Coleman also served as a flight instructor and for the "Top Gun: Maverick" actors. As part of the "Tom Cruise’s School of Flying," Coleman flew 140 flights in order to prepare the actors to fly Navy F-18 Hornets.

"The main goal was 'let's give them confidence'," said Coleman." And there's what's called G tolerance. So if you know, an F-18s pull on 7.5 Gs, you don't wanna black out or get gray or anything.... it would be a waste of a flight if they went up and they had to use the bag and got sick and everything all the time. So we were prepping them to do all that."

You can catch Coleman perform at the Air Show on Thursday, July 4. The airshow will begin at 2 p.m. and Coleman will be among the pilots to perform .
