ST. LOUIS – A drug dealer out of St. Louis County who admitted involvement in a larger drug trafficking ring from Mexico has been sentenced to a decade in prison after appearing in federal court on Tuesday.

Prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Eastern District of Missouri say Byron Green, 29, was a “lower-level distributor” in the Guy Goolsby drug trafficking organization out of Mexico.

The sentencing comes after Green pleaded guilty in March to eight felony counts, including fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, and meth distribution, possession with intent to distribute meth, fentanyl, and crack cocaine, and possession of a firearm.

Green is one of more than three dozen people who have been convicted due to their association with the Goolsby drug trafficking conspiracy.

The ring distributed large amounts of cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl to the St. Louis and Kansas City areas from Mexico through Texas and Florida, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

After Goolsby and his colleagues were charged and arrested, the U.S. Attorney Office says Green continued their work by obtaining drugs and distributing fentanyl and meth from 2019 to 2023.

Investigators were granted access to search two homes Green was working out of in St. Louis and St. Charles counties in 2023.

After their search of the St. Louis County home, they recovered plastic bags with more than 1,200 fentanyl capsules, five ounces of pure fentanyl, two ounces of crack cocaine, and two pounds of meth. Authorities also seized $33,255 in cash, four pistols, and diamond-encrusted jewelry from the home, which federal prosecutors say was purchased with drug profits.

In the St. Charles County home, investigators found more fentanyl powder and capsules, pill presses for making pills and 12 blenders for mixing drugs, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

During the broader investigation of the Goolsby organization, over 120 pounds of cocaine, fentanyl, meth, and $2 million in drug proceeds and payments, along with dozens of firearms, were recovered.
