Charges filed in Midtown drive-by shooting near Harris-Stowe State University

ST. LOUIS –Two brothers have been charged in connection with a drive-by shooting near Harris-Stowe State University in Midtown.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting happened on the evening of May 18 in the 3000 block of Olive Street, just north of the Harris-Stowe campus.

Police said Jordan D. Huddlen, 27, and three other individuals were driving on Olive and pulled alongside another vehicle when Huddlen and another person fired into that second car.

The driver of the second car was uninjured. The front seat passenger suffered a gunshot wound to their leg. The backseat passenger, identified as Eddie Randle Jr., was struck and killed. Randle was 19.

The suspects eventually crashed into another car and injured the driver of that vehicle.

The suspects fled on foot after realizing their car was inoperable.

Police said Kevin Huddlen, 31, picked up the four suspects and took them from the area. At the time, he was serving supervised release on a federal drug conviction.

Police said Jordan admitted being in the vehicle at the time of the shooting.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Jordan Huddlen with first-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution, two counts of first-degree assault, and four counts of armed criminal action. Huddlen will remain jailed without bond pending trial. He’s due in court on July 10 for a detention hearing.

Kevin Huddlen was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution, and four counts of hindering prosecution of a felony. He’s been jailed without bond. He’ll next appear in court on July 9 for a preliminary hearing.
