ST. LOUIS – A high school beef between students spilled into after-school hours in a drive-by shooting in the city’s Dutchtown neighborhood.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting happened on the afternoon of May 15 near the intersection of South Grand Boulevard and Keokuk Street.

Police said a man agreed to pick his girlfriend’s children up from their schools. He first picked up a 15-year-old from middle school, then picked up two other kids from Soldan High School.

While they were going home, the vehicle was shot at. One of the shots struck the 15-year-old in the leg, and they needed to be hospitalized. No one else was injured in the shooting. Police recovered five bullet casings at the scene.

Police said witnesses helped them identify the shooter as Solomon A. Rasas, 18, who went to Soldan High School with two of the siblings in the car.

According to police, one of the siblings who attended Soldan got into an argument with Rasas earlier that day.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Rasas with four counts of armed criminal action and four counts of first-degree assault. Rasas remains jailed without bond. He’s awaiting a detention hearing on Wednesday, July 10. Rasas will be back in court the morning of August 1 for a preliminary hearing.
