ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - She received the key to the city of St. Louis in 2021 and fought a courageous years-long battle with cancer. Longtime local media personality Tammie Holland has died.

Tony Scott was Holland's so-called 'on-air husband' during one of her radio jobs, "Tammie was a professional. Tammie was good at whatever she did. And Tammie loved to laugh. She loved to make me laugh. I'd laugh so hard I'd get dizzy. I think one time I actually fell out of my chair."

Scott says listeners felt about Holland what he got to see daily, "She loved to smile and she gave out some of the best hugs in the entire world. She loved everything about St. Louis and it was genuine. I think the listeners knew that.'

Saint Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones issued a statement that says in part, "Tammie gave so much to our community. I will forever miss her smile - her wit - her style - her hugs - and her infectious giggle."

    Jones called her a sister-friend.

Roberts Metro Broadcasting St. Louis announced Holland's death on Saturday. She was most-recently a co-host of the "Real Breakfast Crew" on their Foxy 106.9 FM station.

The company's issued statement says Tammie will be remembered for her warm smile, contagious laughter, and genuine enthusiasm for life.

It goes on to say, "Her signature voice and engaging storytelling style made her a favorite among listeners, and her presence on the airwaves will be deeply-missed."
