ST. LOUIS – Residents of a south St. Louis neighborhood feel terrified and possibly targeted after someone fired more than 30 rounds into their homes.

FOX 2 obtained video of the frightening situation and the image of the car carrying the gunman. On Tuesday afternoon, investigators with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said they believe the victims were targeted and called the incident disturbing.

“There is a large number of casings that are recovered from the scene. And it appears to be only a few number of residents involved, so one of the things that investigators are looking at is if this is targeted for any reason. But it certainly doesn’t appear to be anything random at this point,” Sgt. Charles Wall, a police spokesman, said.

The most recent incident happening just after 11 p.m. Monday in the 6900 block of Alabama Avenue in the Carondelet neighborhood. Police added a real time mobile camera Monday morning because the same thing had happened on Sunday.

“Mobile video recording trailers are in the block, so we do have some surveillance footage,” Wall said. “There is a dark-colored sedan that may be involved in these incidents.”

Police are also increasing patrols in the area.

“It’s alarming and we understand the residents,” Wall said.

In the video, you can see a vehicle speeding away after both episodes. Police said the back-to-back incidents were both within the last 48 hours. A third shooting happened just a few weeks ago

“Investigators are looking into all three of these incidents to determine if they are all related,” Wall said. “The caliber of the rifle casings recovered all seem to indicate it could be the same or similar weapon.”

Police said the suspects remain at large; disconcerting news for residents.

“They’ve done this in broad daylight and they’ve done it again tonight for the third time in eight days, around 11 o’clock, while all of us were sleeping,” resident Aleks Saric says. “Terrified, you know? A lot of these neighbors have kids and have to work in the morning. So, we’re just kind of getting exhausted of being terrified and worried that it might be our house next time.”
