    Man found dead on a porch after shooting in north St. Louis

    ST. LOUIS – A man was found dead on a porch after shots rang out in north St. Louis late Wednesday morning.

    This shooting unfolded on the 4600 block of Elmbank, in the greater Ville neighborhood of north St. Louis. The police received the call for a shooting there around 1 a.m. Wednesday morning.

    Officers from the 6th District were the first on the scene. Authorities say when they arrived, they found an adult man who had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The police say this was an outside crime scene. The man was discovered on the porch of a home.

    At this point, officials have not released the name or age of the victim. The police have also not released any information about potential suspects in this case.

    Let’s give you a look at the latest homicide numbers so far this year in the city of St. Louis and compare them to recent years.

    Including this latest murder, there have now been at least 91 murders so far this year in St. Louis City.

    Police say at this time in 2023, there were 95 homicides in the city. Going back further, at this time in 2022, the city had 100 murders. And in 2021, there were 103 murders in the city at this point in the year.

    Homcides in the city are down a bit so far this year compared to recent years.
