The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Chicago Cubs 5-4 at Wrigley Field on Saturday. The team gets its first win of the series against their division rival and will look to split the four game slate in the finale on Sunday.

Here is what you need to know from Sunday's game.

Gibson Struggles Early, But Bounces Back

It was a tough beginning of an outing for veteran Kyle Gibson . The veteran pitcher gave up four runs in the first two innings after a pair of extra base hits. He allowed an opening inning home run to Michael Busch and a triple to the speedy Pete Crow-Armstrong in the second inning to push the Cardinals behind by three quickly.

However, Gibson persevered and settled in after the second. He went seven full innings for the Cardinals and recorded seven strikeouts with only one walk in the outing.

    Burleson Get Going Again

After cooling off a bit, Cardinals Alec Burleson got the bat rolling again on Saturday with an opening inning homer to take the lead early at Wrigley Field.

Before the homer in the first, Burleson entered Saturday hitting only .150 in his last 44 plate appearances. The knock was his 19th of the season. Keeping him hot as the Cardinals just over 50 games in the regular season is crucial if they want to chase down a playoff spot from either the division lead or the wildcard.

A Little Help From My (no-so) Friends

I don't think The Beatles had this in mind when they wrote a classic in 1967, but the Cardinals biggest foe helped the team steal the win at Wrigley Park on Saturday.

The Cardinals were trailing 4-1 heading into the eighth inning and the Cubs looked to be well on their way to clinch the series a game early. However, with two outs in the inning, Cubs newly acquired third baseman Issac Paredes attempted to throw across the diamond that went over the head of first baseman Michael Busch. This allowed Alec Burleson to score and the Cardinals to regain life in the ballgame.

The error set up two batters in scoring position and Nolan Arenado capitalized in the next at bat with a bases clearing single to tie the game that was made possible by another Cubbies blooper.

Sometimes, you just take them where you can.

Tommy Pham continues to bring the energy to this new looking Cardinals offense as he hit a triple off the ivy to setup Laars Nootbaar to bring him in as the winning run off a sacrifice fly.

    What's Next

The Cardinals will look for the split as they play the series finale on Sunday. The first pitch at Wrigley Field is scheduled for 7:10 PM EST and will be televised on ESPN on Sunday Night Baseball.
