The St. Louis Cardinals fell to the New York Mets 6-0 at Busch Stadium on Monday. They have now lost eight of there last 11 games.
Here is what you need to know from Monday's Contest
Pallante Struggles
The Cardinals starting pitcher had a tough go on Monday, especially towards the end of his outing. The verdict for Andre Pallante came early in the contest against the Mets at Busch Stadium as he couldn't get through the fifth inning. Pallante allowed three hits and a walk in the fifth before giving up a bases clearing double to Mets Tyrone Taylor to push the lead to 5-0 before getting pulled.
He finished the day with five runs allowed on five hits across 4.2 innings of work. He struck out two and walked two in the contest. He only found six whiffs in the game and had a 23% CSW.
Offense Had No Answer for Sean Manaea
For the first seven innings on Monday, the Cardinals had no answer for veteran pitcher Sean Manaea. He allowed six hits but left everyone stranded and struck out ten St. Louis batters. Both Willson Contreras and Pedro Pages fell on strikes twice against the veteran pitcher. It was the third time this season that Manaea recorded ten or more punchouts in a game.
The Cardinals offense finished the day with only six hits. They were 0 for 7 with runners in scoring position (RISP) and left seven on base.
Bright Side? Scott Shows Improvement
Cardinals outfielder Victor Scott II got his first taste back in the Majors since being recalled from Triple-A Memphis over the weekend. Scott reminded the crowd of Busch Stadium his great glove, but he also showed some improvements with the bat.
After having issues in his first stint with the club producing too many fly balls, Scott kept his at bats on the ground with a bunt and a groundball single, giving him the chance to utilize his speed on the basepaths. Manager Oli Marmol said that Scott will get plenty of opportunities to get himself in the lineup while he is up with the Major League club.
What's Next
The Cardinals will host the Tampa Bay Rays for a three game series beginning on Tuesday. The first pitch at Busch Stadium is scheduled for 7:45 PM EST.
