Bedford mother and son kicks in door and beats man with tire iron
BLOOMINGTON — A Bedford man and his mother were arrested after police say they kicked in a Bloomington man’s door and beat him with a tire iron. Police arrested 38-year-old Phillip Dean Magness Jr., of Bedford, and his mother, 56-year-old Jamie Jo Staten, of Farmersburg, on charges of burglary with a deadly weapon, battery with a deadly weapon, and criminal mischief.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — A Bedford man and his mother are in jail for allegedly kicking down a door to a man’s Bloomington apartment and beating him with a tire iron. Phillip Magness Jr., 38, of Bedford and Jamie Staten, 56, of Farmersburg, both face charges of burglary with a deadly weapon (a Level 2 felony), battery with a deadly weapon (a level 5 felony), possession of meth (a level 6 felony), and criminal mischief (a class B misdemeanor).

New Housing Development Being Built In Staunton
Clay County, In. – Officials from Thrive West Central and local developers held a ribbon cutting Monday for the new Clay Court housing development in Staunton. The development is located off Jefferson Street and will feature 10 new homes. Three of the new homes have already been built. The houses are being built in connection with Thrive West Central’s “Homes for the Future” program, which incentivizes developers to build new-age homes across West Central Indiana. The houses will cost at least $250K. Developers confirm that two of the houses have already been sold, and that they have commitments on at least two others. A&J Developers will be constructing the homes for the Clay Court development. All houses in the development will be on city utilities.
