Man hospitalized after shooting on East Pleasant View Drive

Jayceon Smiling will return to UAA Junior Olympics
JAYCEON Smiling, a CNMI son, will make his second appearance in the AAU Junior Olympics in Winson-Salem, North Carolina, which is set from July 29 to Aug 1. The 8-year-old all-American started his track & field/athletics journey in April last year. Currently serving in the U.S. Air Force, his parents Janyll Pialur Smiling (daughter of John and Josephine Pialur) and Derek Smiling relocated from Alabama (Maxwell Air Force Base) to Maryland (Joint Base Andrews) in March last year and decided to allow Jayceon to join the Southern Sprinters Elite track club despite having no experience in track & field.

DMPD say Kianna Jacobson, previous missing person has been found
DES MOINES, Iowa — Kianna has been located in the downtown Des Moines area and is doing well, DMPD announced. The Des Moines Police Department reported Sunday afternoon that 15-year-old Kianna Jacobson is missing and is endangered due to not having necessary medication. DMPD is asking the community for help in finding her.

DES MOINES – The Omaha Storm Chasers were swept in Des Moines, falling to the Iowa Cubs 6-5 Saturday at Principal Park. For the sixth time in as many games this week, Iowa scored first, plating two runs in the bottom of the first inning on a solo homer off Omaha starting pitcher Anthony Veneziano for a 2-0 Cubs lead.
Iowa hosts world’s best disc golf players for tournament
INDIANOLA, Iowa- The 2024 TruBank Des Moines Challenge kicked off its third and final round Sunday morning in Indianola after a brief lightening delay. The event is a three day disc golf tournament at Pickard Park for the top men and women disc golf players from all over the world.
Urbandale City Council adopts new flag
The Urbandale City Council officially adopted the new city flag during last week’s council meeting. The flag, which features six of the letter “U” in light blue and white intertwined to form a star on a dark blue field, represents the unity of “people, natural resources, businesses, schools, transportation and local government,” according to a news release. The design was selected by community members from more than 440 designs submitted to the Flag Design Committee, which included Urbandale Mayor Bob Andeweg and Urbandale residents. Missing teen located, now healthy and safe
Kianna Jacobson, 15, has been found in downtown Des Moines according to a Des Moines police Facebook post. Police say she is now safe and healthy. Des Moines police asked the public to help find a missing teen in Des Moines. Jacobson left a residential facility early Sunday morning, according to a Facebook post.
