Lima Community Improvement Corp. meets with realtors in hopes of partnering for affordable housing
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - They are continuing their mission of tackling housing, distressed property, and neighborhood improvements within the city of Lima. The Lima Community Improvement Corporation, a non-profit organization under the umbrella of the City of Lima, met with local realtors to build relationships and possible partnerships all in the hopes of building affordable housing stock within the city. Their goal is for 24 new homes to be built on properties in the city's land bank and sold over the next two years.
Fire Training Committee gives update
PIQUA — The Commissioners Committee on the Fire Training Facility gave their monthly report to the Piqua City Commission during its Tuesday, July 16 meeting. This special committee was established by a resolution adopted by the Piqua City Commission on Feb. 6 to create a report detailing events between 2017 and 2023 at the Fire Training Facility. During that time, the Energy Safety Response Group (ESRG) occupied the site, which burned lithium-ion batteries. In September 2023, ESRG was required to shut down operations by the city of Piqua and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Multiple departments called in to battle a 3-alarm barn fire on Grubb Road South. Multiple area departments battled a third-alarm barn fire this afternoon near Williams and Bresler Lake reservoirs. According to fire personnel on scene, the call came in at 3 p.m. Tuesday for reports of a barn fire at 890 Grubb Road South, with Spencerville, American Township, Shawnee Township, Delphos, and Cridersville responding. Upon arrival, the barn was fully engulfed in intense flames, causing complete destruction of the structure, resulting in a third alarm declaration.
Bethany Center acquires stove
PIQUA — The Bethany Center recently received a donated stove from Westminster Presbyterian Church, which replaces the center’s previous 500-pound cast iron stove that was purchased at auction in 2001.
