High Plains Restaurant Holds Medical Benefit for Beloved “Miss Ruby”
NEWELL—Last Wednesday, June 26, Newell’s High Plains Restaurant & Bar called on the community to help support Ruby Oligmueller through her battle with cancer of the larynx. The restaurant hosted a medical benefit and silent auction for Ruby, whose unfortunate diagnosis was discovered less than one month ago. “Ruby’s been working here for two years, and we came to love her. And we’ll do anything to help her out,” said Braidy Nelson, who also works at the restaurant. “A lot of locals came. It’s nice to know a lot of people love Ruby.”

New Flag Flies
NEWELL-There’s a new flag flying at Newell City offices. The flag and flag pole were donated by VFW Post 5807. The beautiful lamp post is adorned with a gold globe on top that is brightened by a circle of light. At night the flag will fly illuminated so that all can enjoy Old Glory even in the dark.
Name Released in Butte County Fatal Crash near Belle Fourche
Butte County, S.D.- A 69-year-old man died Tuesday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash near Belle Fourche, SD. Preliminary crash information indicates Randy A. Dockendorf, the driver of a 2017 Toyota Sienna was traveling eastbound on SD Highway 34 near mile marker 13. For an unknown reason, the vehicle left the roadway and entered the ditch, struck a driveway approach and came to rest in an irrigation ditch. Dockendorf died from his injuries.
