STURGIS, S.D. – The Highway Patrol has identified an 82 year-old man who died July 4 from injuries sustained in a two vehicle crash July 1 near Sturgis, SD. Preliminary crash information indicates John J. Lundin of Sturgis, the driver of a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, was traveling eastbound on SD Highway 34 near mile marker 38.

Paddle boarders save person struggling in Bear Butte Lake
STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade County Sheriff’s Office says a young man in distress in Bear Butte Lake was rescued by a group of paddle boarders on Friday (July 5, 2024). Meade County Sheriff Pat West says the young man was swimming in the lake when he became tired and was having trouble staying afloat. He says a group of paddle boarders were in the lake and noticed the young man in distress. They were able to get the male up on a board and to the shore where he was treated by Sturgis Ambulance crews.
