Days Of ’76 Rodeo to take center stage
For the 102nd year, the Days of ’76 Rodeo will kick off in Deadwood, S.D. July 21-27. Fans will be treated to one of the most decorated rodeos in the state and the tri-state region. The Days of ’76 Rodeo has won the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association Rodeo of the Year award 19 times, and in the Badlands Circuit, the rodeos in the Dakotas, it’s been voted best rodeo 16 times.

Sodbusters Take Series Opener
The Hastings Sodbusters battled from an early four run deficit for a 9-5 win over Spearfish. The Sodbusters are nine games over 500 for the first time in franchise history. Hastings scored six in the fourth to take the lead for good. Kade Cartwright worked 2.1 innings of one hit relief for his first win. Braedon Cork dominated the final four innings, allowing only one hit for his team leading fourth save.

Good Shepherd Clinic expanding to Lead
LEAD — Free healthcare options for the uninsured are expanding into Lead this fall, when the Good Shepherd Clinic sets up shop on Main Street. The clinic, which has offered free medical and dental services to uninsured residents of the Northern Black Hills since 2009, will open a second clinic at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Lead on Sept. 12. The clinic will be open the first and third Thursday of the month, with services available for all Northern Hills residents who qualify.

SPEARFISH — A relic of COVID-19 closures is costing the city of Spearfish money. During the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, the city hoped to encourage contactless payment and avoid opening service windows to prevent the spread of the virus. Names Released in Meade County Fatal Crash
STURGIS — An 82-year-old man died July 4 from injuries sustained in a two vehicle crash July 1 near Sturgis. According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, preliminary information indicates John J. Lundin, 82, the driver of a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, was traveling eastbound on S.D. Highway 34 near mile marker 38 at 10:10 a.m. At the same time, Jerry L. Seaman, 72, the driver of a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500, was traveling westbound on S.D. Highway 34. While initiating a left-hand turn into a gas station, Lundin turned in front of the Dodge Ram and the vehicles collided head-on.
