Lead Police investigating pair of deaths
LEAD, S.D. – The Lead Police Department is looking into two deaths that took place earlier this week. On June 26, 2024, the Lead Police Department initiated a death scene investigation involving a 37-year-old male resident of Lead. Police and EMS responded to the residence that day, and the male was pronounced dead at the scene.

STURGIS, S.D. – Severe weather brought another afternoon of gusty winds, hail and heavy rain to parts of the area yesterday. Sturgis Lions Club kids fishing derby draws nearly 100
STURGIS — The annual Sturgis Lions Club fishing derby, held in memory of Jill Baird, drew nearly 100 kids on Saturday to the Lions Club Pond in Sturgis. Tim Brown, spokesperson for the Sturgis Lions Club, said the event has been held for many years and no one can remember how long, but this year was extra special as it was in memory of a Jill Baird, a long time Lions Club member that passed away last fall and her husband and family are here to kick off this year’s fishing derby.
