Miles Reed, age 75 of Sturgis, died Sunday, July 7, 2024 as a result of a vehicle accident that occurred near Reva, South Dakota. Services will be held 11am Wednesday, July 17th 2024 at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis. Funeral arrangements are being jointly conducted by Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche, and Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
Piedmont man arrested on drug charges
SUMMERSET, S.D. – The Meade County Sheriff’s Office says a Piedmont man has been arrested and is facing numerous drug-related charges. Chief Deputy James Johns says at approximately 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, law enforcement was contacted regarding a subject passed out in a vehicle on 3rd Street in Piedmont.

Man escapes injury in I-90 crash
SPEARFISH — One lane of traffic was closed temporarily on Interstate 90 eastbound when a vehicle became stuck in a guard rail in Spearfish Thursday. According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, just after 8:30 a.m. the 60-year-old driver of a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling east on Interstate 90 near mile marker 13 when the vehicle left the roadway to the right and struck the cable guardrail. The vehicle became tangled in cables and came to rest on the guardrail. Traffic was moved to the left lane until the vehicle was removed. The driver was uninjured. The name of the person involved has not been released. The highway patrol is investigating the crash.

Deadwood celebrates a decade of 3 Wheeler Rally
DEADWOOD — Deadwood and the First Gold held the 10th annual 3 Wheeler Rally this week. The rally was held the week of July 8. The itinerary included a ladies ride to Keystone on Monday and rides through Spearfish and Vanocker canyons. On Tuesday, the attendees rode to Devils Tower and ended the day with a pie and ice cream social.
