Mary Lasiter
Mary Edith Lasiter, 90, of Greenwood, passed away on July 9, 2024. She was born on May 17, 1934 in Spencer Co. IN to the late Homer Wheeler and Nora (Miles) Wheeler. Mary was an avid reader, enjoyed mall walking, and going out to eat at her favorite restaurant, Four Seasons, where she and Don were regulars since they opened. She loved to travel with her husband, to include Sunday drives and especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

With increased use of genetic testing we are learning that incest resulting in live births occurs at a rate of 1 in 7,000 in the United States. This is a startling statistic given it was believed much more rare. This incidence only reflects the live births; there are many more pregnancies from incest.

When I was 11 years old, my parents took me to hear Christopher Paul Curtis speak about “The Watsons Go to Birmingham – 1963.”. I remember being SO excited — but also kind of confused. Not unlike seeing your teacher in the grocery store, the idea that an author as an actual person was disconcerting. It was the first time I realized that being an author was a possible life plan.

Marjorie Marie (Strebel) Noe, 76, of Franklin, IN passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 12, 1948, in Beech Grove, IN to Valentine Joseph Strebel and Elizabeth Marie (Rolley) Strebel. She married Frederick Jerry Noe on January 20, 1974, in Indianapolis, IN; he preceded her in death on April 22, 1999.
