After four years with St. Peter Public Schools, Superintendent Bill Gronseth will be stepping down to return to his roots in an elementary school.

On Wednesday, July 17, Gronseth announced that he had submitted his resignation to St. Peter Public Schools, effective July 31, to accept a position as an elementary school principal at an undisclosed district.

"Many may know that I started my career in education 30 years ago as an elementary teacher," Gronseth wrote in a post on Facebook. "I taught grades 1, 2, and 5 for many years before serving as an assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent." "At this time, I have chosen to follow my heart back to the elementary level and have accepted a new position in another school district as an elementary principal," he continued. Starting in August, St. Peter Middle School Principal Jon Graff will serve as acting superintendent, while the School Board works with the Minnesota School Board Association on finding an interim superintendent who will fill the role until a new superintendent is hired in summer 2025.
