BUTLER, Pa. — A whistleblower is allegedly making claims about security failures in the hours leading up tothe attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. Sen. Josh Hawley from Missouri sent a letter to the Department of Homeland Secretary explaining the whistleblower’s claims. Bike ‘N Brew Fest attracts nice crowd on great day
The annual Bike ‘N Brew Fest, held on Saturday as part of Oil City’s Oil Heritage Festival, boasted great weather and featured both biking and beer tasting activities. Coordinated by the Venango Area Chamber of Commerce, the event raises funds for the Future Leaders and Entrepreneurs Exchange (FLEX). Participants received a map of eight local points of interest to visit by bike, while others could collect a cooler bag with 17 craft beers or opt for VIP on-site tasting. Attendees were encouraged to share photos using the hashtag #ohbikenbrew2024. Annual Heritage Festival fishing derby is Saturday
The annual Oil Heritage Festival children’s fishing derby, sponsored by the Oil City chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America, will take place on Saturday at Waltonian Park off Deep Hollow Road. Registration opens at 8 a.m., and fishing runs from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Due to traffic issues from the Veterans Bridge closure, parents are advised to plan for timely arrival. The derby features three age divisions with prizes, including a grand prize of an outdoor adventure package. Age groups are 5-6, 7-9, and 10-12, with possible adjustments for balance. DoD Requiring New ID for Retired Military
JULY 22, 2024 – Beginning in 2026, the legacy Uniformed Services Identification (USID) card will no longer be accepted for access to benefits, privileges, or DoD bases. According to the DoD Common Access Card website, USID cards are issued to retired military and Reserve members, dependent family members of uniformed Service members, and other eligible individuals in accordance with DoD policy. On July 31, 2020, the DoD started issuing the Next Generation USID cards at select DoD ID card facilities with a phased implementation for all facilities which was completed in December that year.

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City couple are facing felony drug charges after police discovered 84 packets of Xylazine and Fentanyl in their vehicle. Court documents indicate that Oil City Police filed criminal charges against 43-year-old Christopher Joseph Mozurak, and 39-year-old Emma Lou Pepper, both of Oil City, on July 18, 2024, in Magisterial District Judge Andrew Fish’s office.
