Power outages reported after Thursday night storm
The City of Lebanon experienced some downed lines and power outages after a storm Thursday night. The city reported at 1:31 a.m. that about 500 customers were without power and crews were making repairs. Debris, fallen trees and flooding were reported. Police, local business warn of counterfeit bills
Lazy Lee’s One Stop #4 is warning community members of counterfeit bills that may be in circulation after an incident at their business last Friday. Store manager Bonnie Saltzman spoke with the record on the counterfeit $100 bill they received. “It was worn and tattered,” Saltzman said, though not extremely, she noted. According to Saltzman, the clerk had reviewed all indicators of counterfeiting except for the security, which they were not aware of. For more on this story, see Saturday's LCR.
Obituary – Betty J. Dunlap
Betty Jean Dunlap departed this life on July 1, 2024, after a short stay in the nursing home. Betty was a devoted mother and friend. She enjoyed spending time with both family and friends. She had a lifelong love of anything involving flowers and floral design. Betty owned her own florist shop for a time named “Designs by Dunlap.”

Lebanon lost one of its best known citizens Monday morning, July 1, 2024, as Elizabeth “Beth” Lyn Long passed away in her Lebanon home. She was born April 7, 1948 in Lebanon, Missouri to Paul D. DeBerry and Eleanor Appling DeBerry. Beth was seventy-six years, two months and twenty-four days of age.

Laclede County man sentenced to probation and jail time for shooting woman & assaulting two jailers
A Laclede County man accused of shooting a woman then attacking two female law enforcement officers pleads guilty. Daniel Coleman, of Lebanon, pleaded guilty Monday in two separate cases. The first case involved the shooting which occurred last September at the home Coleman shared with the victim. The woman told police she was walking in the door from work when Coleman fired shots at her, penetrating one arm and grazing her collarbone. Coleman was arrested after an almost two-hour standoff.
