Apartment damaged by fire in Richland
An apartment in Richland is damaged by fire. The Tri County Fire Protection District says crews were dispatched to a commercial structure fire in the 400 block of West McClurg Avenue around 10:30 Saturday morning. Crews arrived at the Richland Housing Authority Apartments to find light smoke showing from the eaves of a single story apartment complex. Crews entered one unit and found heavy smoke inside and a fire in the wall. The fire was quickly extinguished before it spread to the attic or adjoining apartments.
Miner swimmers make CSCAA Scholar All-America team for 22nd straight semester
By: John Kean, Athletic Communications Director ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T's swimming team has earned a spot on the College Swimming Coaches Association of America's Scholar All-America list for the 22 nd straight semester, as the Miners landed the award for the 2024 spring term. The Miners, led by head coach Danny Murphy, posted a team grade point average of 3.26 during the spring to lead the group of the 47 schools whose men's swimming teams were named to the Scholar All-America squad. Former State Representative Beth Long dies at 76
A resident of Lebanon, who served the residents of Laclede County and the State of Missouri for many years, has died. 76 year old Elizabeth Long died at her Lebanon home on Monday July 1st. Beth Long served as Laclede County Clerk from 1983 to 1990 and served multiple terms in the Missouri House of Representatives. After leaving the House of Representatives, Beth Long spent much of her time remaining active on all levels of the Republican Party. Beth Long is survived by her husband Kent, and three daughters: Amie Jackson, Dana Long and Sara Witt along with 5 Grandchildren. Services will be July 6 under direction of Holman Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon.
Lake Regional seeks funding for $18.7M ASC
Osage Beach, Mo.-based Lake Regional Health System has set a $5 million community support goal to fund adding an ASC to its Lebanon (Mo.) campus. The 21,000-square-foot Lake Regional Surgery Center - Lebanon is part of a $32.4 million phased expansion of its Lebanon campus by the health system, according to the Lake Regional fundraising page for the center. The outpatient surgery center is expected to cost a total of $18.7 million and will offer robotic-assisted total joint replacement and gastroenterology services.
Vienna Vikings sign defensive back Ken Hike Jr.
The Vienna Vikings signed defensive back Ken Hike Jr. on Monday. Ken Hike Jr. is six foot one and weighs 180 pounds. The 28-year-old from Decatur, Georgia, made 14 tackles (9 solo, 5 assists), two interceptions for 44 yards, 10 pass breakups, and one forced fumble in four games for the Helvetic Mercenaries in 2024. The Mercenaries released him last week.

Ryan Highfill, a senior in civil engineering and engineering management at Missouri University of Science and Technology from Ozark, has been named a 2024 recipient of the Remington R. Brumley Man Injured In HWY 42 Rollover Crash
A Brumley man is in the hospital following a crash on Friday in Maries County. According to the Highway Patrol, it happened along Highway 42 eight miles west of Vienna. 59-year-old Charles Landreth was traveling westbound in a 1998 Dodge Ram when he went off the road, overcorrected and then rolled over.
Holiday Fuel Prices Across The Lake Region Vary Depending On Location
Holiday fuel prices across the lake aren’t breaking the bank as much this year. According to GasBuddy.com, prices on the land for a gallon of regular range from as low as $2.89 in Lebanon to $3.19 in Eldon, and as low as $3.18 in Osage Beach to as high as $3.69 in Versailles for Diesel.

Blythe Virginia (Lewis) Horine, 91 of Devils Elbow, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024, in her home.
