Rehm hits 100 wins with MP sweep
MT. PLEASANT – Fort Madison’s Jared Rehm reached his 100th win with a sweep of Mt. Pleasant at the Mapleleaf Athletic Complex Monday night. The Lady Hounds won 8-1 in the first game and took the second game 13-3. In the opener, Fort Madison didn’t give up a run until the bottom of the 7th inning with an 8-0 lead. Senior Lauryn Helmick allowed just one earned run over seven innings while striking out seven, walking two, and allowing just five hits.

NM Boys Fall Twice at Moravia
MORAVIA – North Mahaska continued its preparation for postseason play travelling to Moravia for a baseball triangular Saturday. They lost to Van Buren County 4-3 in eight innings then lost to host Moravia 11-1. The first two-thirds of the game was a tale of three innings. Van Buren scored single runs in each of the first three while North Mahaska tallied single runs in the next three to tie the game. Neither could score in the last inning of regulation. Van Buren was able to put up the winning run then hold the Warhawks in the bottom of the eighth.

Raven Boys and Girls Break Out Brooms on Bears
The Hillcrest Academy Raven baseball and softball teams cleaned house in Kalona this weekend with the Danville Bears in town, each scoring crossover conference victories. The Raven girls were a 14-5 winner Saturday. Danville pushed across one in their first at bat, only to see Hillcrest answer with a huge seven spot in the bottom of the inning. The Bears got three in the top of the second to pull within 7-4, only to see the Ravens get one in the bottom half to make it 8-4, before adding on single tallies in the fourth, fifth, and sixth then four more in the seventh to finish the game. The Ravens pounded Bear’s pitching with 12 total hits and grabbed six walks. Five different Ravens had multi-hit days, led by Malia Yoder’s three hits and five RBI. Morgyn Nafziger, Delaney Shaw, Adrianne Blauvelt and Stavia Miller each had two hits. Nafziger and Miller drove in two each. Kylee Statler had two RBI on a hit, Blauvelt drove in one. Nafziger and Claire Withrow each scored three times, Lydia Beachy and Miller both scored twice. Yoder was the winner in the circle, going all seven, giving up five hits, two earned runs, three walks and striking out four. That’s now back-to-back wins for Hillcrest to run their record to 9-10 this year as Danville falls to 3-17.
Ravens Pass Road Test With Warriors
The Hillcrest Academy Raven baseball team made it seven wins in their last eight games Monday, with an 8-3 road victory at Van Buren. The Warriors got one in the first, but Hillcrest took control with four in the second and two more in the third to build a 6-1 cushion. The Warriors got single tallies in the third and sixth with the Ravens scoring once in each of the fourth and fifth to hold Van Buren at bay.
Ravens Ready For South Division Doubleheader Monday
The Hillcrest Academy Raven baseball and softball teams take the diamond Monday to face a pair of foes from the South Division of the Southeast Iowa Superconference. The Raven baseball team is on the road against Van Buren. The Ravens are 12-3 this year, 7-1 leaders of the North Division, after a 12-2 Saturday win over Danville. This season, they are hitting .284 as a team with a .421OBP and .387 slug, scoring 131 runs on 119 hits with 83 walks and 104 strikeouts. Individually, five Ravens are hitting .300 or better, led by Rowan Miller’s .476 with 20 total hits and 19 RBI. Liam Schrock has a team best 22 runs scored. On the mound, the Hillcrest staff ERA is 3.16 with a .221 opponent average on 85 hits, 44 earned runs, 33 walks and 86 strikeouts. Individually, Seth Ours is 4-1 with a 2.69ERA. Liam and Lawson Schrock and Miller are 7-0 with a 3.30ERA.
