Salem 11u All Stars Start District Tonight At Olney
The Salem 11u All Stars open District Tournament play tonight at Musgrove Park in Olney. They will take on either Robinson or Lawrenceville at 6pm tonight. The winner will advance to the semifinals on Friday against Olney after the White Squirrels opened up last night with a 3-1 win over Mt Carmel in their tournament. The loser of tonight’s game falls into an elimination game at 7pm tomorrow night.
Woolridge, Redenbo & Pappas Show Well At DuQuoin Swim Invite
Salem swimmers had great performances recently at the DuQuoin Invitational. Austin Woolridge and Branson Pappas put in work down south and came away with lower times and some hardware. Woolridge took home 2nd place in a blazing fast time of 26.69 in the 50m free with Pappas coming in 9th. Austin then brought home 2 3rd places, in the 50m Butterfly and the 100m Breaststroke with Pappas 7th and 6th respectively. Austin was also 4th in the 100m Backstroke with Pappas 6th.
Salem 11u Opens District With Loss To Robinson, Back Tonight In Elimination Play
The Salem 11u All Stars fell in their District Tournament opener at Olney, losing to Robinson 7-0 on Tuesday night. Nolan Krutsinger did his job on the mound as he worked 4.2 and gave up 5 runs, none of them earned, while striking out 11 and not walking anyone. He kept the Maroons off balance all night.
Salem Wildcat Booster Triathlon/5k Fundraiser To Be Held August 4th
The Salem Wildcat Booster Club is hosting a sprint triathlon and 5k on Sunday, August 4th. The event will be held at the Salem Family Aquatic Center. The triathlon will begin at 7:30 a.m. and will feature a 400m serpentine pool swim, about 13 mile fast out and back bike ride up Highway 37, and a 3.1 mile run. The 5k race will begin about 5 minutes after the final swimmer exits the pool and will use the same route as the triathlon. This is a beginner friendly course for new triathletes, and an opportunity for a PR for those more experienced.
