These are some of the issues found at four of the state’s active landfills, documented by letters of deficiency sent by the Department of Environmental Services from January to June. Many of the problems centered around the management of leachate, the “trash juice” created when rainfall mixes with waste that can be highly toxic.

Chris Sununu of New Hampshire has signed a bill that would ban transgender athletes in grades 5-12 from teams that align with their gender identity, adding the state to nearly half in the nation that adopted similar measures.The bill passed by the Republican-led Legislature would require schools to designate all teams as either girls, boys or coed, with eligibility determined based on students' birth certificates "or other evidence." 2 new tent platforms built for unhoused Yellowknife residents

I am excited to introduce the Library’s new social worker, Taylor Morris, who is planning the next iteration of our social work program to connect patrons with social service resources. In 2021, Library staff, elected officials, and community members identified a lack of equitable access to social work services among patrons, so with support from the City, we established our in-house social work program in response to these needs. Library staff are well equipped to help patrons find resources, but we needed someone who could walk patrons through employing these resources for themselves and navigating the complex barriers that come with social services.

Woman killed in Fall River pedestrian crash remembered as giving woman of God as services announced
A 67-year-old Dartmouth woman killed after being struck by a box truck on Joseph Drive in Fall River is being remembered as services have been announced. According to Gregg Miliote of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, at around noon on Wednesday, two victims, the driver of the box truck, and three others were at 214 Joseph Drive to pick up a dresser. The six individuals were all employees or volunteers for the non-profit organization known as My Brother’s Keeper, which organizes drop offs and pick-ups of donated furniture.
