SALEM, Ohio (WKBN) — The future of the BMV in Salem is still up in the air, as it was expected to close June 30 but may continue to operate.

The BMV was expected to close with the retiring of Deputy Registrar Robin Gray. However, according to the Ohio BMV’s website, Hollie Smart was selected to take over the position for the next five years.

Mayor Cyndi Dickey said it’s unclear if Smart will continue operating the same location on 2nd Street and she’s not sure if or when a location will be open.

Columbiana County residents can still go to the BMV in Lisbon.
