ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) — High pressure will keep Southwest and Central Virginia dry through the middle of the week. However, increasing temperatures and humidity levels are anticipated approaching the Fourth of July.

Mostly sunny skies are in the forecast for Tuesday. Morning temperatures will start in the cool 50s before reaching the comfortably warm upper 70s and lower/middle 80s by the afternoon.

Wednesday will be mostly dry with morning lows in the 50s and lower 60s. However, afternoon highs will reach the middle/upper 80s and lower 90s under mostly to partly sunny skies. Humidity levels will begin to creep upward. If you’re heading to the Salem Fair’s opening day, put on sunscreen and drink plenty of water. Stay cool as best as you can!

Prepare for a hot and humid Fourth of July! Morning lows will be in the middle and upper 60s. By the afternoon, temperatures will rise into the upper 80s and lower/middle 90s. The muggy air will make it feel a few degrees hotter. A nearby disturbance may spark scattered showers and storms during the afternoon and evening. Not everyone will see rain, but a few storms may become strong to severe. Not only do you want to stay cool and hydrated, but remain weather-aware as well.

Friday through Sunday, morning temperatures will generally be in the upper 60s and 70s while afternoon highs will be in the upper 80s and 90s. Scattered hit-or-miss showers and storms are possible each day, especially during the afternoon and early evening.
