City of Modesto considers extending lease to keep Nuts minor league team
MODESTO, Calif. — The city of Modesto will be taking action next week to keep its minor-league baseball team. Modesto’s City Council will consider an amendment on Tuesday to extend the Nuts’ current lease at John Thurman Field through September 2025. The city said Friday that extending the lease to allow the Nuts to remain in Modesto through the 2025 season would give more time for negotiations between the city and the Seattle Mariners on a longer-term lease agreement.
Sutter Health invests $380 million for new cancer center in Modesto
Sutter Health said Wednesday it will build a new four-story cancer center in Modesto. Sutter Health is investing $380 million to build the 165,000-square-foot cancer center on the Sutter Memorial Medical Center campus. The hope is to welcome patients from San Joaquin, Stanislaus and Merced counties in 2028 or 2029.
