TOWN OF SALINA, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — You ask, we answer!

Viewer Question: I’ve recently noticed blue flashing lights in the Liverpool area. What’s the story behind the lights?

The two spots where the lights were spotted were the Le Moyne Manor Apartments — currently under construction on Old Liverpool Road — and the former Holiday Inn/Ramada, on Electronics Parkway.

What the viewer is noticing are mobile, solar-powered security camera systems. The blue flashing lights are meant to grab a person’s attention that the property is being monitored.

The developer of Le Moyne Manor said tools, materials, even a porta-potty was taken from the construction site.

He said since the mobile camera system was put on the property, he hasn’t had an issue. The motion detection allows him to monitor the cameras from his phone, even allowing him to talk over the speaker to let someone know it’s private property.

As for the closed Ramada on Electronics Parkway, that security system has been up and running for several months. The Town’s Planning and Zoning department said people were breaking into the hotel and recording themselves running through the empty building.
