Southern Local stadium receives upgrade
Southern Local High School’s Wigwam Stadium will have a fresh look when the Indians kick off the football season this fall as officials improve its surface and lighting. Superintendent Tom Cunningham said work wrapped up on an estimated $518,906 turf replacement project and new material was purchased from FieldTurf, which has companies across North America including Buckeye Lake. Officials said the sod was of a higher quality and the stadium had not received improvements in years.
Columbiana County gears up for second annual Pride Celebration
Columbiana County is preparing for its second annual Pride Celebration to be hosted at Eleanor Acres in Lisbon in late July. Kelly Linger of East Liverpool appointed as judge to Columbiana County Municipal Court
Kelly Linger was recently appointed as a judge to Columbiana County Municipal Court by Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine. Linger, of East Liverpool, will assume office on July 23, 2024, and will be taking the seat formerly held by Judge Katelyn Dickey, who resigned upon being appointed to the Ohio Seventh District Court of Appeals. She will serve the remainder of the unfinished term and will need to run for election in November 2025 to retain the seat.
