CORRECTION: Headlines on a previous version of this story incorrectly reported the number of people injured. It was four.

A 48-year-old man from Salisbury, Maryland, died Friday night in a crash near Delmar that injured four others, according to Delaware State Police.

The name of the man who died is being withheld until his family is notified.

The 48-year-old was heading south on Providence Church Road in a 1996 Subaru Outback, police said. He failed to stop at the stop sign at Route 54 (Delmar Road) at 9:30 p.m., according to police, and drove into the path of a 2017 Nissan Rogue driving west on Route 54.

The front left of the Nissan hit the front left of the Subaru, police said. The 48-year-old driver of the Subaru, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead on the scene. The 40-year-old Laurel woman driving the Nissan and three child passengers had "minor non-life-threatening" injuries, according to police.

State police are continuing to investigate the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call Master Cpl. K. Argo at 302-703-3264 or contact Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-847-3333.
