SALISBURY — The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will make a July 16 stop in Salisbury as part of its Music for Maryland Tour.

The eight-stop tour, which kicked off July 9, features a mix of chamber ensemble and full orchestra performances. Stops include Dorchester, Somerset, Caroline, Talbot, Worcester, and Wicomico Counties on Maryland’s Eastern Shore; Charles County in Southern Maryland; and Washington County in Western Maryland.

Salisbury’s tour stop starts at 7 p.m. in the Jackson Family Auditorium at Holloway Hall on the grounds of Salisbury University at 1101 Camden Avenue. The featured artist will be the Chamber Ensemble.

Tour promoters said admission to each concert, highlighting classical and modern music, is pay-what-you-wish, and reservations are encouraged. Suggested donations are $10 per ticket.

“Music for Maryland is about transforming our commitment into tangible experiences, bringing the joy of music to every corner of Maryland," said Mark Hanson, president and chief executive officer of the orchestra in a release. "We are thankful for the partnerships with counties across the state that have made this tour possible as we look for new ways to serve our community statewide.”

Launched in 2022, coming out of the pandemic, the Music for Maryland Tour said its goal was to expand the reach of the organization throughout the state of Maryland beyond the walls of the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and The Music Center at Strathmore, and into all 24 jurisdictions of the state by the end of 2024, with an intensive focus on the summer months.
