Livingstone College has been on a roll of late when it comes to donations. In the last seven months alone, the Salisbury, NC HBCU has accepted seven different $1 million donations . The college announced that on Friday it will exceed that amount when it accepts the single largest donation in the institution’s history.

That means the donation will have to be larger than $1 million, but how much larger is still unknown. The exact amount of the donation will be revealed by Livingstone College President Dr. Anthony Davis at the General Conference of the A.M.E. Zion Church in Greensboro, NC on Friday.

Livingstone also announced in a press release that, “this latest donation will be one of the largest outright gifts to a private HBCU in North Carolina.”

“This donation will assist us in advancing our mission, which is too critical to abandon and too important to take for granted,” Livingstone College President Dr. Anthony Davis said. “The money will allow us to accelerate campus renovations, improve the student experience, and solidify our place in Rowan County for generations to come.”

Livingstone College says the money will be used to continue the ‘Miracle on Monroe Street: Livingstone College Reimagined’ infrastructure and capital projects.

Crews are completing Phase One of the project, which will include two residence halls and a dining hall scheduled to open in the fall of 2024. The most recent donation will allow Livingstone College to start renovations on two additional residence halls, which are more than 50 years old.

Dr. Davis, an alum of Livingstone College, is the first graduate to serve as president in the last 50 years. Davis says the stewardship of this money is in alignment with a promise made to students and their families to execute campus improvements.

The 52nd Quadrennial Session of the General Conference of the A.M.E. Zion Church will be held at the Joseph S. Koury Convention Center at 10:00 am on Friday.
