    Suspect arrested in shooting of 27-year-old man in Salt Lake City

    SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — A suspect has been arrested for the shooting of a 27-year-old man in Salt Lake City on Sunday, according to Salt Lake City Police .

    Abdiaziz Ibrahim, 20, of West Valley City, is charged with felony discharge of a firearm resulting in bodily injury, aggravated assault resulting in bodily injury, and being a Category 1 restricted person in possession of a firearm.

    Shortly before 2:40 a.m. on July 14, police received information about a shooting near 1500 North Mandalay Road. Upon arrival, officers learned that someone had driven a 27-year-old shooting victim to the hospital.

    Doctors have reportedly upgraded that individual’s condition from life-threatening to “critical but stable,” a press release from SLCPD states.

    On Thursday, July 18, police safely took Ibrahim into custody near 500 North Redwood Road.

    Detectives also executed a search warrant at Ibrahim’s West Valley City home. Details regarding the search have not been released at this time.

    Ibrahim is currently being held at Salt Lake County Jail on a no-bail hold.
