CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — After a quiet start to our morning, the atmosphere is changing quickly on this Friday Afternoon. While temperatures are in the upper 80s to around 90, it feels much hotter than that due to high humidity. Our heat index should peak out around 100 degrees before a line of storms moves in later this afternoon.
Tug, Mingo play in ‘King of the Queen’ Seven on Seven
The Tug Valley and Mingo Central football teams competed in the “King of the Queen” Seven on Seven football event at Man High School's George A. Queen Memorial Field on Thursday, June 6. Also taking part in the summer event were Man, Scott, Chapmanville, Westside, Mount View and Wahama. Mingo Central has three quarterbacks vying for the starting job in Brennon Harrison, Caden Porter and Tug Valley transfer Jaxon Nenni-Mills. Tug Valley starting QB Preston May, a sophomore, is back for the Panthers. Both MCHS and Tug made it to the playoffs last year.

Severe Weather Threatens Parts of West Virginia as Cold Front Moves Through
Charleston, WV – Severe weather continues to threaten parts of West Virginia tonight as a cold front moves through the area. According to the US National Weather Service in Charleston, residents should anticipate spotty showers and storm activity overnight into Saturday morning. Low temperatures will range from the mid-60s to low 70s in the lowlands and mid-60s in the mountains. The severe storm risk remains in effect until the cold front exits by Saturday morning.
