Pyrotecnico Takes Blame For Sulphur Springs Fireworks Failure
July 2, 2024 – In a letter dated July 2, 2024 Regional Director Justin Pruett for Pyrotecnico, the fireworks provider for the Independence Day Concert on June 29th, took responsibility for the failure experienced by those in attendance for the sub-standard show. The letter further stated that the fireworks show that they delivered was not in accordance with the expectations fo the Sulphur Springs Symphony League, who has worked with this particular fireworks company since 2016. Justin Pruett indicated that he and his company have offered a “replacement show” at no charge as well as crediting the charge for last week’s show.

Sulphur Springs Emergency Sirens Will Be Tested July 3
July 3, 2024 – Emergency sirens will be tested in Sulphur Springs at noon today by the Sulphur Springs Emergency Management Office. The test is to gauge the reliability of the emergency warning system and is conducted to find any potential flaws in the system so they can be corrected prior to a real emergency situation. The sirens could be sounded not only for weather warnings such as tornadoes, which are the most common in the area, but also in case of any emergency that could affect the safety and lives of citizens in Sulphur Springs.

Hopkins County United Way board members are pleased to distribute an additional $42,638.77 to the following non-profit organizations supported by the 2022-2023 Campaign. Each organization is receiving a portion of the excess.”

Many local businesses, financial institutions and agencies will be closed Thursday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. All local, state and federal government offices except emergency and on-duty services will be closed for the holiday. That means Sulphur Springs Public Library will be closed on Thursday, July 4, but will re-open for regular hours on Friday and Saturday. The Hopkins County Genealogical Society Research Lbrary will be closed on Thursday, July 4, 2024 but will reopen on Friday, July 5 at 9:30 a.m.
