The Point God will continue his basketball career with the San Antonio Spurs.

Chris Paul, who will be speaking in Springfield one day, has decided to take his talents to San Antonio, where his playmaking prowess should make an impact on the Western Conference franchise.

As pointed out by StatMuse, Paul is third all-time on the NBA’s assists list, and he’s joining a team that was among the most prolific in terms of assists back in the 2023-24 NBA season.

The Spurs averaged 29.9 assists per game in the last campaign. In addition to that, San Antonio led the league with a 71.2 percent assist rate. With Paul onboard, the Spurs could improve on those numbers, but San Antonio’s goal goes beyond raising their assist stats.

Helping Victor Wembanyama evolve into a more dangerous weapon on offense and mentoring the young guards of the Spurs, especially rookie Stephon Castle, are likely part of San Antonio’s plans when they came up with an offer for Paul.

The Golden State Warriors released Paul on Sunday after just a season together. During his short stint with the Dubs, Paul averaged 9.2 points, 6.8 assists, and 3.9 rebounds through 58 games with 18 starts.

Only John Stockton (15,806) and Jason Kidd (12,091) can say they have more dimes than CP3, who has 11,894 dimes to his name.
