There was a lot of confusion for fans of the San Antonio Spurs when they saw their favorite ball club take a top point guard in the 2024 NBA draft in University of Kentucky floor general Rob Dillingham, only to see the Spurs’ front office deal Dillingham away to the Minnesota Timberwolves for future draft assets.

But when the Spurs managed to land veteran point guard legend Chris Paul in free agency at the expense of the Golden State Warriors, the plan for San Antonio’s backcourt started to come into focus. How much will CP3 help the fortunes of a Spurs squad trying to win now? Can he be a mentor to new Spurs combo guard Stephon Castle? And is this a playoff team now?
