Former North Carolina Tar Heels standout Harrison Barnes is on the move as part of a three-team trade late Saturday night involving DeMar DeRozan.

Barnes was traded to San Antonio by the Sacramento Kings as part of a three-team trade that saw DeRozan go to the Kings and Chris Duarte go to the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls also received two second-round picks.

With the trade, Barnes now joins a young Spurs team that has a rising star in 2023 No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama. The Spurs are building a solid core around the talented center including drafting former UNC forward Harrison Ingram in 2024. Ingram now gets the chance to learn under a veteran like Barnes as the Carolina Family ties continue to run deep.

Barnes spent six years with the Kings, averaging 14.7 points per game, 4.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. He appeared in 399 total games, starting in all of those appearances for the Kings.  Prior to playing in Sacramento, he spent time with the Golden State Warriors and Dallas Mavericks.

Adding Barnes to a young roster could be beneficial for the Spurs moving forward.
