Spurs Legend Tony Parker Reveals 1 Trait Victor Wembanyama Shares With LeBron James

With the 2024 Summer Olympics underway, we've seen plenty of basketball. Team USA has been on a tear but France has made noise themselves thanks to Victor Wembanyama. That noise is translating to a global scale and now San Antonio Spurs legend, Tony Parker, weighs in on the rising superstar.

During an interview, Parker was asked about Wembanyama's play. In his answer, the Spurs legend couldn't help but detail a trait Wembanyama shares with future Hall of Famer, LeBron James, according to Yahoo Sports.

Parker claims that Wembanyama is unphased by the pressure and expectations of being a global superstar. That's something James had to go through as a rookie as well before starting his professional basketball career. Overall, Parker hopes this trait leads to multiple championships for the Spurs, as well as medals for the French team.

"There's nothing I can tell him. He's ready… He's not bothered by the pressure or the expectations... He's a little bit like LeBron [James]... So I hope it translates to a lot of championships with the Spurs."

Although San Antonio failed to reach the playoffs last season, Wembanyama proved to be a bright spot. He played extremely well and improved as the season progressed. The Spurs should get better over time as Wembanyama develops his game. He finished his rookie campaign averaging 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 3.6 blocks per game.

Comparing his rookie numbers to James' rookie year, you can easily see the comparison. In his first year with the Cleveland Cavaliers, James averaged 20.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game. Both players took home the Rookie of the Year award in their respective rookie campaigns.

Wembanyama and James are both enjoying their time at this years Summer Olympics as both France and Team USA are in the running for medals. The men's French team has never won a gold medal in basketball but they have taken home silver three times. Meanwhile, the men's USA team has won gold 16 times, silver once, and bronze three times.

The future looks incredibly bright for Wembanyama, the Spurs, and the France international basketball team. At 7-4, Wembanyama has quite the advantage on the basketball court but he still has his entire career ahead of him considering he's just 20 years old.

As for James, he's been a powerhouse throughout his entire career and looks like he could play well into his fifties. However, at 39 years old the clock is ticking for the future Hall of Famer.
