Oakland woman arrested after CHP finds $450,000 in stolen retail items
OAKLAND -- Investigators tracking a string of retail thefts traced more than $450,000 in stolen goods to a fencing operation in an Oakland residence, the California Highway Patrol said Friday.Claudia Cruz, 35, of Oakland was accused of organized retail crime, possession of stolen property, and conspiracy to commit a crime, the CHP said.An Organized Retail Crime Task Force made up of investigators assigned to the CHP's Golden Gate Division launched a probe in July into a criminal network involved in a string of retail thefts targeting various retailers throughout the Bay Area, the highway patrol said.Stolen merchandise, consisting mainly of items found at drug stores, was recovered in the Oakland residence, two vehicles and a storage facility, police said.

Dublin Police Probe Fatal Shooting at Emerald Park Apartment, No Suspect in Custody
A quiet neighborhood in Dublin was disrupted yesterday afternoon when a man was fatally shot at the Emerald Park Apartment complex. Dublin Police Services were called to the scene at 5050 Hacienda Drive around 2:21 p.m. to find an adult male victim with a gunshot wound to his head, according to a Dublin Police statement. Several sideshows happened throughout the East Bay overnight, with attendees at two creating a circle of fire in an intersection. In Vallejo, a sideshow was held at the intersection of Lewis Brown Drive and BW Williams Drive. The sideshow happened just after midnight. Police dispersed the crowd within an hour but not before attendees created a ring of fire in the intersection and stood inside while cars circled around them.The other sideshows happened in Crockett, Richmond and Oakland. Another ring of fire was made at the sideshow in Oakland. That sideshow happened at the intersection of International Boulevard and 42nd Avenue. Police quickly dispersed the sideshow after about 20 minutes. Attending sideshows is illegal, and police often track down vehicles involved and impound them.
