A 50-year-old man was fatally stabbed Monday during an argument with a woman in an Oak Park-area neighborhood.

Patrol officers responding to a report of a possible assault about 12:30 a.m. found the victim lying on a sidewalk in the 2500 block of Euclid Avenue, bleeding from at least one stab wound to his upper body, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Paramedics took the man to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. His name was withheld pending family notification.

Though the manner of the victim’s death was not immediately clear, homicide detectives were called in to take charge of the case.

“It is still early in the investigation, and little is known about the circumstances leading up to the (stabbing),” SDPD Lt. Steve Shebloski said Monday afternoon. “However, detectives have learned there was some type of argument between the (victim) and a (woman) that occurred in a vehicle they were in. During that argument, a knife was present, and the (man) suffered a fatal stab wound. … The (woman’s) role in this incident is still being evaluated.”
